Not really about film, but if you are interested in open content movements, this presentation is great. It's also a masterful powerpoint, which is rare.
Hans Rosling makes a similar point about making publically funded data available in this brilliant TED talk (see the last section). He thinks we should make data available and link it to design so that it can be understood. Amen to that!
